555 nm to RGB & Color Calculator
Approximate how 555 nm monochromatic spectral light can be represented in sRGB, and calculate CIE 1931 tristimulus values, THz frequency, and photon energy.
Why You See This Color (555 nm)
At 555 nm, the radiation strikes the human retina close to the peak photopic sensitivity curve V(λ) (555 nm). Both M-cones (chlorolabe) and L-cones (erythrolabe) are strongly depolarized, maximizing luminous efficacy per watt of optical power. The visual system perceives this radiant energy (540.167 THz, 2.234 eV) as brilliant emerald green to chartreuse, mapped here to digital sRGB gamut coordinates.
