Standards Reference & Computational Boundary Statement
1. Standards Frameworks
The models implemented on Wave Lab are built upon international standard physics frameworks:
- Optics: CIE 1931 2-degree Standard Colorimetric Observer, sRGB color space (IEC 61966-2-1), D65 reference white point (x = 0.3127, y = 0.3290).
- Acoustics: ISO 16:1975 Standard Tuning Frequency (A4 = 440 Hz), 12-Tone Equal Temperament pitch grids, standard dry air thermodynamics (v = 331.3 · √(1 + T / 273.15) m/s).
- Universal Constants: NIST CODATA 2018 / 2022 recommended values (c = 299,792,458 m/s, h = 6.62607015 × 10⁻³⁴ J·s).
2. Display & Audio Hardware Limitations
When converting monochromatic spectrum wavelengths (e.g. 520 nm pure laser green) to RGB displays, the physical colors on monochromatic spectral locus lie outside the standard sRGB gamut triangle. In such instances, standard chromaticity clipping and desaturation algorithms are applied to provide the most perceptually accurate representation achievable on digital RGB monitors.
Similarly, synthesized acoustic tones rendered via the Web Audio API are dependent on your personal speaker/headphone frequency response and sound card DAC precision.
